what super info - have been showing/breeding bichons for 10 years and sharing this type of info is great. bichons are such sweet, adorable dogs. i also had newfs for 15 years- comparible in temperment to bichons. coats can be difficult-the breeds only drawback to pet homes, but kept in a short trim are managable. give your doggies a hug today :-)

I too love the page! I own Wagon Tails Pet Salon in Georgia and have a large clientele of Bichons. I live with a wonderful little 11 lb. bundle of Bichon joy named McGriff. He is loved by everyone who knows him and welcome everywhere we go! He sits on a grooming table at my shop, greeting all who come in the door. He is such a ham that he even sneezes when you ask him if he has a cold!!! Thank you for all of the honest info on grooming (I agree with everything you said!), housebreaking, tearing and so forth! Please put a message on here somewhere reminding people that AKC papers only mean that the parents of their pet were registered. The AKC doesn't check to see that people breeding are doing so with animals that will further their breed. I would love to see that you encourage people who are not finishing champions to SPAY and NEUTER! I see too many Bichons that come from litters that never should've happened. I adore this breed and don't want to see it ruined!

Hi, this page is great. I have one Bichon Frise, Chelsea, and she is 9 months old. She is the best thing that happened to me. She is very loving, and very loyal. She is a very smart little girl, having just past Grade 2 at dog school, and most improved in her class.
Thanks for the great information, and your dogs, are absolutely gorgeous.

I recently lost my best friend, a German Sheppard named Sabe" due to uncontrollable seizures. She was worth every bit of the pain in loosing her and I want another loyal friend to love and spoil! We've decided to get a smaller dog for a companion at home as well as to travel with. All of our children are grown. I love your page about Bichon's!! There are so many wonderful pictures. I have a male Bichon named "Zazu" that will be two in January. I love him, he is so smart and lovable, Zazu knows tons of tricks, and we just taught him to climb up and go down my 2 year old daughters slide! Zazu is a little bigger than the Bichon "standard" he is about 15 inches tall and is really long, he weighs 21 pounds, but is no where near being fat! LOVABLE LITTLE DOGS!! I have a picture of Zazu on my homepage!

we have two Bichons called Bolton and Splash. Splash is 3 years old and Bolton is 9 months, naughty boys the pair of them. Wonderful company clever,always bring in the nwespaper in the morning. All people who belong to Bichons are the luckiest people in the world.

I have a male Bichon named Fluffy, he is 1 yr and 10 months old. He's so smart, he gives you a paw when he wants a dog biscuit! He loves to play catch with his toys, loves to go on the slide at the park. He's a lot of fun, very entertaining and loves to play all the time. He can be quite exhausting at times!!! I'd love to have a playmate for him, but Bichon's are quite expensive to care for! Maybe in the future!!!

I am a breeder/exhibitor/lover of another part of the Bichon family, namely the Bichon Havanais. Also called "Havanese" and I own also one Bichon Bolognais, who is the rarest one of the Bichon group. The Bolognese looks very much like an ungroomed Frise, they only differ in little details. The Havanese breed is still very rare and recently reconised by the AKC. In caracter these lovely dogs are the same as the Bichon Frise, very happy, outgoing dogs, who love children and other dogs. Do you want to see my havanese ? Try my site ! our 9 mo bichon Kippy has twice gotten hot spots we think on each side of her head causing an $80 trip to the vet for shaving, shots and medicine. she seems to scratch alot. is there anything we should be doing to help stop this problem from reoccuring?
also, watching for her to come in heat - any signs to watch for? want to breed her but not until 2 years.
also, poor thing seems to get car sick quite easily. vet says to bear with it - any ideas?

We have our first Bichons - Lily & Teddiie who are just about three months old. We have dogs all our lives, but these gals are the greatest.

Hello! We own a 1 1/2 year old bichon male named Leo. He's indeed the most loving and "needy" dog in terms of attention. Sound familiar? We've met more people in our neighborhood because of him, and everyone asks aboutr him if he happens to be home resting. Recently, Leo has developed a serious impairment in his right leg. AFter several visits to our vet and specialists, the jury is still out. It appears to be an orthopedic problem, but we're awaiting bloodwork re: muscular problems. Has anyone experienced similar problems? Thnaks for the information, if you have any!
