My 9-month old puppy Allegro, is so cute, and he definetely earned his name. (Allegro means fast or upbeat). When we first got him, he was romping aroud like a horse, and we have a small gate to keep him in the kitchen that he likes to jump over. It was really funny when he learned how to climb the stairs and explore my room and all the other rooms up there. After we had gotten him, I found out that he was bred in a puppy mill. I learned about puppy mills a little after that, and it breaks my heart that people can do things that inhumane to animals. No matter where my Allergo came from, he'll always be my little angel!!! I'm only 13, and I'v had one other dog, and Allegro is the first I've seen as a really small puppy. My other dog was 2 years older than me. Your web site is great! I love it. I will be back here soon!

We brush our Comet two or three times a week but her hair is getting long and we're starting to find mats that are very difficult to get out. She had to be shaved once when we first got her because of mats and we can't bear to go through that again. Any advice on special brushes or techniques would be appreciated!

After owning 6 Doberman Pinschers getting a Bichon was a big adjustment, but Kramer has turned out to be the best dog we ever owned!

Our family has fallen in love with a Bichon too. We have always had two dogs and after the death of our 14 year old collie, we decided that we needed a smaller dog. We added Bucky-Bichon to our family in August and he is now almost 7 months old and has adapted well to our home and his best buddy is our 80 lb.black lab. All would be going perfect, but everytime I think he is housebroken, he proves me wrong. He has even wet on our bed!!!..something I have never seen a dog do before. We have had him in a kennel when he is unattended from day one, but he seems to be able to "sneak an accident" usually after he has just been outside but without anyone seeing him do it! This is the most frustrating dog experience I have ever had. I have scheduled an appointment to have him neutered assuming this could be a "marking" activity. Has anyone got any other ideas?

Our little bichon is now a whopping 5 years old and we really love her. She loves to sit on my lap while I am on the computer. Can you give any suggestions to help us when we leave her in our car to run into a fast food place to get something, she barks constantly and really stresses out, even when she can see us! We travel with another dog also, Buddy is a stray of some small breeds - Lhasa maybe with poodle or bichon - he's all white, a little bigger than our Sugar; but he's perfect. He just lays down on the seat and calmly waits till we're back, and puts up with Sugar's antics. Thanks.

We have a Bichon called Claude. He used to get clawed by our cat, but now they are reasonable friends. He sleeps on anybody's bed - the laundry is much too lowbrow for him! He can smell chocolate a mile away, but he also loves lettuce, carrot and apple. He knows about 4 words - training wasn't very successful.

I really get a kick out of this site. It's great! I am the proud mother of 2 male bichons; Guy who is 5 and Charlie who is 2. They are the best companions and we are crazy about them!

My dog, Marley is the best dog in the world!! Not only does he have a great atitude, he is always (I mean always happy to see me!) The only things I can think of that are bad about these dogs are that they needlots of exercise, and need to be groomed often!
BUT YOU WILL JUST LOVE THEM!

Our bichon is male and is 3 years old. We just love the bichon as a breed. This is a great dog to have if you have allergies to pet dander. (this is the reason we have one) The bichon is such a loveable dog,ours loves attention and to giv us kisses. We do a lot of things with our bichon that surprise other people, such as tent camping, and hiking. Our bichon loves it, and we enjoy taking him. Our bichon is very much a part of our family we couldn't imagine live without one.

we have two bichons- Nikki and Maggie. They are 9 and 7 respectively and are both female. The older trained very well but the younger has never taken to "going outside". she has had two life threatening illnesses so we tend to cut her some slack . any suggestions?

I would just like to say that my family owns a BichonFrise and we think he is the best dog in the world. Hank is no longer a dog but a part of our family. He does almost everything we do. He also loves to go for long walks. He rathers a long walk to being groomed. I must say that we do not groom our Bichon as much as others do. We let his fur grow out in the winter and He looks much more adorable than when he is all puffed and fluffed. He is also 10 years old and shows no signs of aging! Everyone should own a Bichon.

My folks have a male and female bichon. The female is a little big (28 pounds) but it is the most loveable dog you can find. They both love their dogs and travel everywhere with them. They've had them for about a year and they have had problems getting them to respond to training. I'll show them this home page when they come to visit. I'm sure they'll love it.

Hi All Bichon Lovers, I have been reading a lot of messages from people who have a varity of questions and a few problems..I thought this is a great spot to suggest a book that I found very informative. I always suggest to my puppy buyers to pick up a copy. The name is You & Your Puppy. Howell Book House By James DeBitetto and Sarah Hodgson. All breed but happens to have a Bichon on the cover. We have had our Emma for one week- and we are in love! She' s 11 weeks, and the only problem so far is the housebreaking, but we knew that all along. My 2 year old tell everyone "thats my doggie" and my 17 month old loves to watch her play. My husband even likes her, he says she'll end up sleeping in our bed soon! This website is fantastic.

Our ten week old female likes to bite our hands and feet. Is this normal? Our ten year old daughter is becomming afraid of her. She is jumping on us and is full of energy. At times she tears suddenly around the kitchen. When she is tired, she sits quietly with us. This is our first puppy in 25 years! I guess we are looking for a support group. Thanks for any advice.
