We have three bichons. Brie, Beau, and Cammie. We love them and can't imagine being without them. They are definitely part of the family. You can't beat the love and happiness that they give to you. I don't know how anyone would want any other kind of dog.

our 9 mo bichon Kippy has twice gotten hot spots we think on each side of her head causing an $80 trip to the vet for shaving, shots and medicine. she seems to scratch alot. is there anything we should be doing to help stop this problem from reoccuring?
also, watching for her to come in heat - any signs to watch for? want to breed her but not until 2 years.
also, poor thing seems to get car sick quite easily. vet says to bear with it - any ideas?

My Bichon is named Souffle (Souffie for short) and is almost 12. He had a very serious malignant tumor on his should which was removed two months ago. The vet said he would be in puppy heaven by now, but he is doing marvelously. I'm giving him lots of love, fresh air, exercise (I take him to work with me) and have him on Super Blue Green Algae. He is my first dog and I love him so dearly. Wish us luck!

My Bichon Fluffy a male seems to have a tartar buildup on his teeth. I give him all things to chew dog biscuits, dental toys, and other things that are supposed to remove tartar but they don't seem to work! I have beef toothpaste and a toothbrush that I bought and I am trying to brush his teeth, but it is a hard job, since he doesn't like any grooming activity? Any Suggestions, does anyone else have this problem with their Bichon? Let me know.

Hi everybody! Our Abigail Snowstar (Abby) is the love of our life. She is now 16 mos. and we have lost our hearts - and have never laughed out loud so much! She loves life - when the doorbell rings she thinks it's somebody who has come to play just with her; she loves going byebye in the car with us and walks (as fast as possible) are her great passion. She is a Kleenex thief - adores it! She loves my underwear and will drag my bras around until she is entangled. She "blitzes" on a regular basis (laying perfectly still, jumps up, runs through the house at 60 mph, changing direction on a dime, and then lays down), it's like she has this intense energy that she has to discharge and then she's done. She loves everybody, most of all our granddaughters who wrap her in blankets and dress her in doll clothes and she plays "house" with them by the hour. They say Bichons have similar characteristics - any of this sound familiar? We have been debating adopting another Bichon but would like to hear the pros and cons of having 2 vs. 1. Any input would be greatly appreciated. THANK YOU for such a wonderful site - you have done an extraordinay job.

We came across the Bishon because of our family allergies. Our pet has been a encouragement to our daughter who has had severe allergies and now seems normal, because she too has a dog. Yes, without any allergic reactions. Most say it is because they don't shed and there is no dander. I now truely believe ther is an allergy free dog, the BISHON FRISE.

I had a Bichon for seven happy months from the time was 6 weeks old. I named him Alchemy thinking perhps he could turn things to gold. Igot used to the idea he would be in my life for several years. He was hit by a car two weeks ago and died instantly. Please treasure every moment you have with your beautiful bichons.You never know when you might lose them.

For Bichon's scratching their neck/shoulder area, try putting a baby t-shirt on them. That way they will not make the wound worse and the medicine can have a chance to work.
I have two Bichon's, Erica, a 11 year old pure bred and a shining example of the breed and a pet shop imitation named Bijou that is 6. She may not be perfect but she is a bundle of joy.

Our 10 year old Bichon, Puff, was hit by a truck and killed instantly in July. She could never resist escaping the house and chasing other dogs or running the neighborhood, even though she got plenty of exercise on her walks. We're looking for a breeder in the Baltimore area. Any recommendations would be appreciated. Also, since we both work during the day, any recommendations regarding having two Bichon's so they can keep each other company?

Our precious little Bichon, Cookie, is such a joy to us! She is so smart and sweet -- and VERY spoiled -- don't know what we ever did without her! I've never before seen a dog that is as smart as this breed. Everyone's amazed at what she can do. She is so protective of us, though, that it's sometimes impossible to quiet her down when a stranger comes to the door. If she doesn't like their looks, she will not stop her barking! Our children grew up and left home, so now we have a new child...Cookie!
